 Personal Letters:

Personal letters to friends and relatives are written in informal style. They take the place of conversation and abbreviations and speech idioms may be used in such personal communication.


The format of the personal letter generally follows the conventions foed


for all letter-writing with certain changes adopted for the informal style of Such letters.


1. Heading:


The heading is an invariable part of all letters of the informal style


2. Inside address:


This is omitted in personal letters.


3. Greeting:


In letters to relatives and friends, the salutation may be as follows: Dear or My dear or Dearest, depending on the degree of familiarity between the writer and receiver of the letter.


Always use a capital letter for the first letter of the greeting.


4. Body of the Letter:


Informal letters convey their information in a pleasant and free manner. As with formal letters, the body of the letter should be arranged in paragraphs conveying the progression of thought.


5. Conclusion:
